Youth Against Violence report: The
Greater Tacoma
Community Foundation has created a Youth Against Violence
initiative, with the help of many other organizations in the city.
As a major philanthropic funder for Pierce County, WA, they felt it
necessary to proactively move forward and address the issue of
Youth Violence. With the help of facilitators from the
Center for
Ethical Leadership and the
Berkana Institute, the Community Foundation
held four community dialogues, which included both youth and adults
in attendance. This created an opportunity for both youth and
adults to work together to create solutions. This is the report
from those dialogues.
Roca Inc.'s Manual for working with High Risk Youth This
manual describes approaches for transforming the lives of high risk
youth ages 14-24. Drawing on research and development theory, these
intervention strategies have been tested in action and proven to
work with the most at-risk youth who are often left behind by our
major institutions. It includes indicators of success and
references to organizations leading this work. Published by
Roca Inc., it
was written by a group of youth workers, police officers and public
officials in Chelsea MA. 57 pages.
