Aloha e Miguel! Mahalo nui for all the time spent in conversation and for being such a wonderful, genuine gentleman. (Your mama must be so proud!) I will definitely look into the next CLE! I found the resources on this site regarding Gracious Space and I'm really enjoying looking though those. I attended an Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream symposium yesterday, and in an exercise we needed to look a stranger in the eye for what seemed like forever.. and I realized the intimacy and connection in that exercise. Intense! I came home and tried it with my 11 year old and she was like, mom you are so weird are you trying to read my mind? Tried it at night with my husband and he also just thought I was nuts. :) Please do keep in touch.

Hi Miguel,

Hope all is well. I met you very breifly at the DC Youth Summit. Have been at IEL since September but starting to work on these things and Steve is helping me to start up a NING site for our District Leaders Network on Family and Community Engagement. I look forward to being in touch.

Hi Miguel,
I'm reaching out to social justice oriented educators and students in the RGV about a campaign LUPE is currently working on. LUPE, one of the orgs that hosted the CLE in the RGV, is currently organizing to pass the DREAM Act, a bill that would allow many undocumented youth a path to citizenship if they continue their education. There are so many hardworking undocumented students in our community who, because of their status, face barriers to furthering their education and giving back to the country they call home. The DREAM Act is the only hope for hundreds of Valley students, allowing them access to financial aid and the prospects of working with their degree after college. I thought you might be interested in this campaign because of your commitment to education and social justice. If you are, confirm my friend request and I’ll tell you more about it.
